Set within the landscape of Paradise Valley, Bluebird reinterprets the language of Mediterranean architecture through a refined contemporary lens. The residence balances classical proportion and symmetry with restrained detailing and modern spatial flow, resulting in a home that feels both timeless and distinctly current. Organized around a central courtyard, the home establishes an internal world at its core, where outdoor space becomes the experiential heart of the architecture. Circulation wraps the courtyard in a continuous loop, creating a layered dialogue between interior and exterior conditions and producing moments of light, landscape, and connection throughout the residence. Anchoring the arrival sequence is an entry courtyard centered around an ancient olive tree, establishing an immediate sense of permanence and calm upon entry. The architectural expression is defined by a palette of terracotta roof tile, smooth plaster, cream fieldstone, and blackened steel divided windows. Traditional forms are carefully edited through crisp detailing and simplified massing, allowing the home to feel clean, grounded, and quietly luxurious. Inside, warm wood tones and painted wall paneling introduce richness and depth while reinforcing the home’s tailored character. The kitchen serves as a central gathering space, featuring dual islands, marble tile inlay flooring, and a large dimpled skylight integrated into a wood coffered ceiling. In the great room, a curved fluted plaster fireplace with an angled bronze surround becomes a sculptural focal point beneath a contemporary interpretation of a traditional coffered ceiling. Large openings extend the interior seamlessly toward both the courtyard and the rear pool terrace. Complementing the main residence, a detached entertainment casita houses a lounge, golf simulator, and bar, expanding the home’s capacity for entertaining while maintaining the property’s intimate courtyard composition. Soma is a study in balance, blending heritage, craftsmanship, and contemporary livability into a cohesive architectural expression.
